Edmund Spenser’s ‘The Faerie Queene’

Edmund Spenser’s best known work. “Spenser is best known for ‘The Faerie Queene,’ an epic poem celebrating, through fantastical allegory, the Tudor dynasty and Elizabeth I.”

He created his own “Spenserian Sonnet” and stanza form which combined both the Petrarchan sonnet and the Shakespearean sonnet. A controversial figure, he nevertheless used the form to perfection in ‘The Faerie Queene’ and several other works.

This video hopes to open a window and provide a small view of his influence on art throughout the following centuries.
